HealthSHIFT: Early Intervention is HSJ’s purpose-built platform that shines a spotlight on some of the most pivotal themes in the NHS 10 Year Plan: early diagnosis, restorative care, clinical resilience, diagnostic innovation, and the right care closer to home. By uniting leaders from across policy, clinical practice, diagnostics, and innovation, HealthSHIFT creates a dynamic space where big ideas meet practical solutions.
This special initiative comprises three complementary forums:
- HSJ Cancer Forum: Bringing together national policy leaders, front-line clinicians, commissioners, and patient advocates to tackle cancer care challenges, speed up early diagnosis, streamline pathways, and spotlight innovation in treatment, commissioning, palliative care, and multi-disciplinary working.
- HSJ Modernising Diagnostics Forum: A one-day, deeply interactive gathering for ICS/Dx network leads, pathology and imaging professionals, and NHS system leaders, focused on amplifying diagnostic capacity, deploying AI and new technologies, and optimising the network-wide environment to reduce turnaround times and improve outcomes.
- HSJ Genomics Forum: A new event designed to elevate the role of precision medicine in early detection and intervention.
Together, these forums create a powerful journey through early intervention—from cutting-edge diagnostics to pathway redesign to future-ready, personalised cancer care.
Overall themes across HealthSHIFT: Early Intervention
- Accelerating early diagnosis to improve outcomes and reduce inequalities
- Building clinically resilient systems and pathway efficiency across the NHS
- Driving innovative diagnostics, including genomics and digital technologies
- Strengthening cross-system collaboration from ICS leaders to front-line staff
- Embedding person-centred, equitable care throughout every touchpoint
Why now?
By bridging oncology, diagnostics transformation, and genomic medicine, HealthSHIFT: Early Intervention creates the spark for system-wide alignment and action. Each forum tackles a distinct link in the chain - from the “what” of cancer diagnosis to the “how” of delivering it faster and smarter, and ultimately the “who” through tailored genomic insights. Collectively, they offer a seamless path from strategy to solutions.
