Launched in 2025, shortly before the publication of NHS England’s 10 Year Health Plan, HealthSHIFTwas established to convene HSJ’s existing events and communities around the three strategic shifts central to future health and care delivery.

The 10 Year Health Plan confirmed these shifts - towards prevention, community-centred models of care, and digital transformation - as the foundation of system reform for the coming decade.

The HealthSHIFT series provides a structured platform for NHS leaders, policymakers, and system partners to examine how these reforms can be implemented effectively and sustainably.

  • HealthSHIFT: Early Intervention explores how genomic insights, diagnostic innovation and other scientific advances can support a more personalised and preventative healthcare system, enabling those affected by cancer, chronic and long-term conditions to live longer, healthier lives.
  • HealthSHIFT: Empowerment enables NHS digital and clinical leaders to drive equity in outcomes through proactive and preventative care, by supporting patients to access the most appropriate care in the most appropriate setting and make better use of technology
  • HealthSHIFT: Life Science Innovation explores how medicines, medtech and the wider life sciences ecosystem can support the NHS to deliver on the visions of the 10 Year Plan for Health, and embed patient-centred innovation at the heart of system reform.
